Dr Philip R. Lane (born 27 August 1969) is an economist and was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland in November 2015. He was professor of international macroeconomics and director of the Institute for International Integration Studies (IIIS) at Trinity College, Dublin. He received a doctorate in Economics at Harvard University in 1995 and was an Assistant Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University during 1995-1997 before joining TCD in 1997. He was a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research and had been a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a consultant to the European Commission. He is among the (Top 5% of Economists in the World ) according to IDEAS/RePEc. His research interests include international economics, economic growth, European Monetary Union and Irish economic performance.
